This course is designed to explore the influences between language and culture through the field of sociolinguistics. It will lead students to examine how learning experiences can be affected by cultural tendencies and expectations, and how learning about a target language culture enhances successful second language acquisition. This course will also review the diversity of comparative educational systems. These themes will all be connected to practical teaching strategies and implications.

This course examines biblical justice in relation to contemporary issues in both North American and international contexts. 比如种族问题, 移民, 贩卖人口和性剥削, poverty, violence, gender, 创建护理, and human dignity will be considered along with how to advocate for those who are oppressed and marginalized in society.

在这个节目中, you can earn two respected Multnomah graduate degrees with the time and commitment many students spend for one graduate degree at other institutions. Prepare for your career by earning your degrees in less time and graduating with more skills to serve the global community.

TESOL student-teaching provides teaching experience in an authentic English-language learning classroom. You have the option to complete the TESOL practicum requirement by teaching community language learners on-campus or teaching anywhere in the world with an internet connection. You may also choose to participate in an MU-sponsored English Bible camp in Japan.

Internships are a great way to broaden your network and gain hands-on experience in the workplace. Our MAGDJ program partners with a number of organizations whose internships provide you the opportunity to start making an impact now as you continue to get your education.

A research thesis is also an option instead of the required traditional internship, it usually takes two semesters and includes working with a thesis advisor. For more on these options please consult with the Director of the MAGDJ program. Study abroad opportunities are offered every year with program faculty.
